Butterflies in Blankets

Happy Tuesday Everyone,

I saw this recently...

Not only did it make me giggle, (cause I feel like were all wrapped in a big safety blanket these days), but it made me wonder what kinds of weird looking caterpillar to butterfly transformations there are out there?  I decided to do a little research.   Just a heads up, if you are grossed out by bugs, read no further...nothing super disgusting here, but personally, I do find caterpillars sort of gross, so if you are like me, and don't want to see the bugs, focus on the beautiful butterflies and then read on for the message below...

Okay, this one below is actually horrifying to me both, as a creepy-crawly caterpillar and as a fuzzy butterfly, but maybe when you look at it from a 10,000-foot level it looks better??

As I got looking at all these butterfly before-and-afters, I found so many beautiful pictures of intricately unique specimens and it got me thinking about the uniqueness of individual humans as well.  Check these out...

So consider this your daily reminder that your uniqueness is important and valued and loved!  Don't ever change, unless it's to become an even more perfect version of you! Also, remember that transformation doesn't happen overnight.  It takes time and patience and work, so if you feel like a mess right now, no worries, you'll figure it out in time.

Figuring it out in time and talk about caterpillars and butterflies reminds me of a book I've had on my shelf for a long time...

If you ever want a reminder of how beautiful you can become, pick up this gem...or stay tuned, maybe I'll read it to you soon.

Also, here's a tool for your tool-box...

Download and color.  (Right-click to save the photo, and then print from there, or find your own butterfly picture in google images if you prefer a different one!)  Mental health benefits of coloring are:

  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Improves motor skills and vision
  • Improves sleep
  • Improves focus
If you send me a picture of your completed butterfly, I'll post it in my upcoming storytelling blog.

Stay Beautiful Everyone,

Mrs. Hempey
