Balloons of Happiness

Good Morning Everyone!

Today I wanted to talk about finding happiness, but first, read this...

They brought balloons to a school. One was given to every student, who had to inflate it, write their name on it and throw it in the hallway. The professors then mixed all the balloons.
The students were given 5 minutes to find their own balloon. Despite a hectic search, no one found their balloon. At that point, the professors told the students to take the first balloon that they found and hand it to the person whose name was written on it.
Within 5 minutes everyone had their own balloon. The professors said to the students: ′′These balloons are like happiness. We will never find it if everyone is looking for their own. But if we care about other people's happiness... we'll find ours too.

When we move about the hallways of life, if we remind ourselves to take care of others, we'll find our own joy too.  This kind of reminds me of a favorite movie of mine from the '80s.  (As an aside, some of you who read my blog back in the spring may remember a reference to me wanting to be a fighter pilot when I grew up.  This interest was probably an extension of my love of movies like the one I mention here Top Gun and others like Iron Eagle, but I digress).

In Top Gun, the two protagonists are both top-notch fighter pilots.  They are both out to get their own glory.  Both looking for the Top Gun trophy.  Both looking to make history as the best of the best.  However, it doesn't look good for either of them as they constantly battle each.  Finally, in the end, they are forced into a situation where, if they don't start helping each other out, they are both doomed to fail.  After their final victory battle, they land their planes on the aircraft carrier and among the cheering crowd, commit to being each other's wingmen for life.

In the end, they found their "happiness," their "fulfillment," when they supported each other and refused to put their own needs before the needs of the group.

So let us all be each other's wingmen here at CBMS.  Support each other, refuse to leave others behind, help others find their happiness, and experience joy for yourself too!

Be Well Everyone!
