Help a Turtle Out
Happy Tuesday,
Yes, that's right, it's not Monday. It's a great way to start a week when we can start on a Tuesday!
With only 13, yes count 'em, 13 days of school left, we all (students and teachers alike) are going to need all the support we can get to make it to the end. This year has been long...this year has been weird...this year has been hard...this year has been oh so different, but we've made it this far and I know we can make it to the end.
While we finish it off, let's support each other, let's encourage each other, and let's help out a friend when they are in need of a little push. If your buddy isn't showing up to class meets, text them, and encourage them to come. If you friend says they aren't doing any more school work, encourage them to check in with a teacher to make a plan for success. If your friend seems sad or our of sorts, email them and try to plan a socially distant connection or email me and I'll reach out to them.
In your own home, try to resist the temptation to push back when your parents ask you to complete school work. They are tired and worried too, and they just want you to be successful now and in the future. When you realize that you and your sibling(s) or parents haven't seen the sunshine in hours, encourage everyone to get outside for a walk, a bike ride, or a trip to the creamie stand.
TALK to someone if you are feeling like a turtle on it's back, ask for help. Don't just sit there baking in the sun. I am available or find another adult you trust - teacher, AG leader, parent, neighbor, grandparent, aunt/uncle, older sibling...anyone you trust will work. Just share your feelings and let someone help get you back on the right track.
So get out there and make something of today. Help someone, ask for help from someone, know we are almost there, and we're all walking this path together.
Have a great Tuesday everyone, and don't forget that even though it's going to be a hot one, the reservoir and ponds are still cold, and the river is still cold and running fast in some areas. Please be safe in the water! If you are going to be out boating wear your life-jackets!
Be Well,
Mrs. Hempey
