Compassion for Yourself and Others
Another Monday, folks!
And this one throws us another little wrinkle, but I know it's nothing we can't handle Cougars!
Check out my question of the day over in my School Counseling Google Classroom about ways to destress. (If you have not already joined the classroom, the link should be in your email, but let me know if you need me to reshare it with you). You can share your ideas for staying relaxed in stressful times and hear about the tools that others use. Consider practicing something new today and/or using something that already works for you.
Here are some basics to get you started...
Today is a day to be compassionate with yourself and with others.
If something is bothering you, ask for support. Check-in with one of your trusted adults, or send me an email and I'll be happy to connect with you today.
Put a focus on creating a routine for yourself this week. Check out your team hubs, and create a to-do list, or a schedule - use google calendar or something you have at home to make a visual at your workspace. Be sure to schedule in some physical activity or time outside! (bundle up, it's going to be sunny but chilly today!)
Don't forget to schedule some time away from the screens this week as well. Read a good book, create something, bake something (it is apple pie season - post a pic of your yummy treats in the comments or in google classroom!), try some journaling, and talk or laugh with your friends and family.
Today is a day to be compassionate for others. Help make someone else's day better. Send a quick note letting someone know that you appreciate them. Call your elder family members just to say hello. Reach out to a distant friend to let them know you are thinking of them. Send a positive vibe to a fire victim or someone worrying about storms or floods.
There are lots of ways we can share our positive energy, and when you do so, it helps you feel better too. Remember not to place blame or point fingers. We're all doing the best we can each day to stay safe and healthy both physically and mentally, so be part of the solution by sharing your gratitude and compassion with others.
Don't forget that you can reach me at jhempey@huusd.org or you can call the school and leave me a voicemail 244-6100 or 583-8071 (my direct number). I'll be checking emails and voicemail regularly.
Have a great week Cougars! You're awesome, so be awesome!
Mrs. Hempey
