Look for the Helpers






Good morning students!

Considering how quickly things are developing with the Coronavirus we are all thinking about creative ways in which we can support you while you are at home during this time. One thing that I plan to do is provide some daily thoughts around self-care, some light-hearted stories, thought-provoking quotes, some movies to watch or books to read, and other general wellness ideas.

If you are interested in chatting over this extended time away from school. I am happy to set up a google hang out. Just shoot me an email regarding your needs and some ideas around times you are available.

In the meantime, look for your helpers - your parents, your extended family, your friends - reach out virtually please - and look for members of our community here in Waterbury/Duxbury and our broader community (check out this story about NBA star Zion Williamson) who are working to support those in need.

Be a helper yourself - be flexible, helpful, and open-minded with your parents and siblings, and do what you can to help keep our community healthy.

I look forward to seeing all your smiling faces back at CBMS as soon as that is possible!

    Great to hear that Tom Hanks, who played Mr. Rogers in a recent movie and who got Covid-19, got released from the hospital earlier this week and is recovering. Yes!

Lived Experience

Good Morning Everyone, Today I'd like to continue addressing social justice and antiracism from my blog. What is antiracism you ask? Well, let me explain what I have come to understand.  Antiracism is when we actively take a stance against racial injustice.  It is fighting for equality.  It is going beyond just thoughts and feelings and taking action.  That action can come in many forms.  It can be in the form of educating your self or others, peaceful protest, monetary support for organizations like Black Lives Matter or the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), or it can be about simply lending your voice to someone in need.   Some people would argue that topics such as these are wading into the water of politics and taking sides and that we shouldn't be talking about them in school or with young kids.  My response is that I don't care what political side people are on.  This is a human rights issue!  It's...
